Search tips and examples

Contains phrase searches the words together; quotation marks are unnecessary. Try loved the world. Use Contains all words or Contains any word for separate whole words.

Wildcards: use * for zero or more characters and ? for one character within a word. Try lov* or fai?h. Wildcards match entire words; for a word followed by punctuation, use a trailing *. Other conditions treat * and ? literally.

For example, combine Verse text contains phrase: loved the world AND Book equals: John. To search an entire collection, try Overall book equals: Book of Mormon.

AND requires every filter to match. OR requires at least one filter to match. To restrict a text search to a particular overall book or book, choose AND.

Results stay in scripture order. Highlights show matching text with nearby context. Overall book or Book filters, and exclusions, show a short verse preview when there is no positive text match.
